As a result of some of the samples being shown on the Clarity Stamp TV show on Create & Craft, I have had a few comments about the following 2 cards and how I managed to do the cutting out:
Many, many years ago, long before die-cut decoupage was invented, we all used to spend hours and hours cutting it out with scissors or using a knife - I must admit that I still enjoy it now. However, about 7 years ago, I was working at the Hobby Crafts Trade Show at the NEC, on the stand that I was working on, we had 2 Dutch ladies who had come over to demonstrate decoupage - one of the ladies was using scissors and the other was using a knife - however, instead of using a green self healing mat, she was cutting on glass - when I asked her about it, she said that she was using a piece of glass from an old picture. She explained that by cutting on the glass, the knife resisted and it allowed you to get a cleaner cut and you didn't get any tearing when cutting small, delicate pieces, she did continue to say that it did blunt the blade quicker, but it was worth it, so after the show, I popped off to Ikea and bought lots of the frameless glass picture frames. Then a few years later, one of the US companies brought out a 13" x 13" glass cutting mat which cost £40 - now lots of companies produce them and they are much, much cheaper. I will say that your blades will blunt quicker, and you will cut into the glass!
Anyway, back then I used to work alongside Wendy Stenton of WS Designs who used to create some fantastic templates which had so many uses. One of the series of designs were called Fretworks and they were intricate templates that needed to be cut out with a knife - the glass mat was a godsend and made a bug difference, so I though I would delve back into the archives and see what I could find. All of the following samples have been cut out by hand:
Like all things, the more you do something, the easier it becomes

Clarity TV Samples 5th January 2014
Okay - I am sure you are all sitting down in shock that I have managed 2 posts in 2 days - it won't last!!!
Here are some samples I made from the latest set of new releases from the fabulous Clarity Stamps! It is an honour and a pleasure to not only be very good friends with the talented Barbara Gray and her team of merry Clarity'teers! (is that a word?) but also to be part of the very talented design team that I always try and do something a little bit different with the stamps and stencils - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!
So here goes:
Can you guess what stamp this one is?
So how about this one:
Well this is one of the Sea Horses which I stamped out 8 times, then cut them out, chopped the heads off. I then created the background with one of the new stencils, stuck the bodies on to create the pattern, cut a circle out and then stuck the heads on underneath the circle!

Some more using the Sea Horses, with heads intact!
This pink one was a quick one to show it could be used for children's party invites.
More pattern building, I loved stamping this one and then colouring it in
Padlock to my heart - this has actually been decoupaged but you can't really see it from the picture - I cut out all the filigree
Thanks for stopping by!

Well it is a Hot Air Balloon and yes, it did take a while to colour in!

The bluey/green one was fab to make - I drew through the stencil and then cut it all out to create a duplicate of the stencil!
This pink one was a quick one to show it could be used for children's party invites.

First post of 2014!
Well, what can I say! It sure has been a while, I have no idea where 2013 went! The plan for 2014 is to Blog more than once or twice a year! So I thought I would start off with showing some samples I made during 2013
So lets start with some Clarity and my favourite Kingfisher
and finally from Katy Sue Designs:
As you can see from some of the samples above, I love to try and do something different with the designs and I love pattern building!
So, 2014 is looking like it is going to be another year of Crafty Madness with lots of new designs from all of the above.
Tomorrow I will be back (yeah, yeah I hear you cry!) with some samples I made for the Clarity TV show on Create & Craft 9am - 11am and 2pm - 3pm
